CAVANI RULES OUT EPL

Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani has all but dashed the hopes of English Premier League side Chelsea Football Club to sign him in the summer from Italian giants Napoli.

The 25 year old striker has been in the form of his life over the last couple of seasons and he is one of the main reasons for the meteoric rise of the Napoli team, glorified by Argentina legend Diego Maradona during the late 1980s from the abyss of playing in the second tier of Italian football to a UEFA Champions League hopeful in just three seasons.

Cavani has been regularly linked with English Premier League clubs for the last year or so with the names of Chelsea and Manchester City being mentioned frequently as well as that of Spanish giants Real Madrid but Cavani has dashed the hopes of all by stating that he is ready to commit his future to the Naples side and he believes that the side has what it takes to become a major force in a few years.

Cavani was part of Uruguay National Football Team that embarked on a dream run in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa where they finished in 4th position and also won the Copa America of 2011. He has already scored 10 goals in just 36 appearances for the two time World Champions and is regarded as one of the deadliest strikers in world football at the moment with brute force, skill and finishing ability.

Cavani’s Napoli actually knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League (though City remain favourites to win a European trophy anyway according to betfair) and have also given Chelsea a scare in the first-leg, which they lead 3-1, mainly thanks to Cavani’s brilliant perfromance.

However, with Cavani himself ruling out a move away from the San Paolo, the fans of the team can expect a lot of big things from the Uruguay National football team striker who is already being touted as the potential successor to one Uruguay’s all time legends, Enzo Franciscoli.

Napoli manager Waletr Mazzarri recently said that he wished that Cavani was Italian, so that he could lead the Azzurri to glory. His grandmother has an Italian passport so he would have been eligible if the Italians had called him up first. The Italians would certainly have shorter Euro 2012 odds if Cavani was in the side.
