Marco Reus not selected for the German squad at the Euros

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus has not been selected in the Germany squad that will be participating at the Euros 2016 in France.

The midfielder who has only recently returned from injury has not been considered for the tournament in France while Bastian Schweinsteiger has been selected in the team.

This is the second major tournament that Marco Reus will be missing in a row. Indeed, the Borussia Dortmund midfielder also missed the 2014 World Cup and was hoping that he will be able to make it this time to the Euros. The midfielder who is currently 27 years old will be hoping that he can participate in the next World Cup.

Manchester United midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger has been selected despite not playing since March. Some pundits believe that this is a gamble by the German coach Joachim Low, but the latter believes that his experience might prove useful in France. Bastian Schweinsteiger suffered an injury to the knee while he was playing for Germany in March and has been undergoing intensive treatment in order to be ready for the Euros. MARIO GOTZE COULD BE LEAVING GERMANY

Top German talent, Mario Gotze could be leaving Germany this summer in a proposed move to Liverpool.

The midfielder is poised to become Liverpool‘s marquee signing of the summer based on latest reports from Anfield. The 23-year-old set to take up a key role in Jurgen Klopp’s attacking system on Merseyside. The player is also reported to be keen on joining his former boss at Borussia Dortmund.

The German has a year left on his current contract with the Bundesliga giant, Bayern Munich. The Reds are looking to sign the World Cup hero for up to £20 million, though this jars with the Bundesliga side’s valuation of closer to £30 million.

Gotze is said to favour a “fresh start” with the Liverpool boss. The Germany international told Bild earlier in April that he may not make a decision over his future just yet:

“I don’t have a concrete schedule. I can’t say whether a decision about my future will be made before or after the European Championships.

“I know that for instance [Dortmund captain] Mats Hummels has said he wants clarity before the tournament, but Toni Kroos [in 2014] only made his decision [to join Real Madrid from Bayern] after the World Cup. Everything’s open.”

As Carlo Ancelotti takes over from Manchester City-bound Pep Guardiola, Gotze remains likely to leave the Allianz Arena this summer. He was poached by Bayern Munich in 2013, but things haven’t worked out for him. The player has also fallen out of under Pep Guardiola. Continue reading MARIO GOTZE COULD BE LEAVING GERMANY

One of the latest friendly matches that Germany has played was against England and the English national side came out on top with a surprising and stunning comeback where they managed to score 3 goals in the 2nd half and emerge as the victorious team despite having fallen behind in the scoreboard during the opening 45 minutes of the match.

Joachim Loew has admitted that the team’s preparation for the Euro 2016 will be affected

Germany’s national team manager Joachim Loew has admitted that the team’s preparation for the Euro 2016 will be affected in the wake of the recent Paris attacks.

Terrorists carried out attacks on the French capital with suicide bombs and so on. This left a huge path of destruction with several people dead. The attack comes just a few months prior to the Euro 2016. The European Championship is one of the major international tournaments for the European nations. After having recently been crowned as the world champions, Germany will be looking to assert their superiority by claiming this title from the clutches of Spain.

The Spaniards have won the last two European championships, but they come into this tournament on the back of doubts about their ability. Germany are seen as the favourites to win the title ahead of the tournament, but Loew says that his team are yet to recover fully from the horrors of recent weeks. The destruction caused by the attacks will be felt during the tournament and it will take a long time for the nation to recover according to Loew. He says that his players will find it difficult to concentrate on the match at this difficult time. Franz Beckenbauer has lavished the praise on Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur

German icon Franz Beckenbauer has lavished the praise on Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur by saying that the facilities of the North London club have amazed him a lot.

The former Bayern Munich defender was speaking ahead of the friendly game between Tottenham and Real Madrid. Both clubs have a lot of history especially in terms of player movement. Two former Tottenham players – Gareth Bale and Luka Modric – form the core of Madrid’s team. Both these players came to the club with a lot of potential but became world-class players during their few years at White Hart Lane.

One of the reasons appears to have been the facilities available at North London. These are only expected to improve when Tottenham move to the new stadium in a few years. The club’s current White Hart Lane has a capacity of just over 35,000. The new stadium is almost expected to double this capacity with reports suggesting that it will be slightly bigger than the Emirates stadium of Arsenal, which can hold 60,000. Tottenham have always had a great history in terms of developing young players and this can only improve in the coming years with the facilities available according to Beckenbauer. Germany performances not been top class

Germany’s performances post their World Cup glory have not been top class if they are analysed honestly.

They have had a couple of shocking results, but, there is no sense of panic in the team management.

According to Oliver Bierhoff, one of the key men in the decision making set up of the World Champions, the head coach is trying to deploy a new system and the players need time to adjust to it.

In most of the games recently, Germany has not played a central striker upfront. Their formation has been 3-4-3 which is pretty different from what it was in Brazil.

And, this formation does not seem to be working at all. The results versus Poland and Ireland were largely due to it. The players looked clueless. Most of them were unsure what they were supposed to do and in such situation, when the individuals don’t clearly know what kind of role they are performing, it’s always difficult to put on a good team effort.

According to Bierhoff though, it’s about a bit of patience at this point of time. Continue reading Germany performances not been top class
