FRANCE POOR FORM CONTINUES AGAINST DENMARK

World champions France have continued their poor form ahead of the World Cup 2022 tournament after they were beaten by Denmark in their UEFA Nations League Group A1 clash. The two teams met at the Parken Stadium in the Danish capital of Copenhagen and it was Denmark who secured the three points on offer via a 2-0 win thanks to two goals in six minutes towards the end of the first 45 minutes.

France are the reigning World Cup winners and they would be hoping to defend their title at the World Cup 2022 tournament later this year. However, they are not in a good run of form after a record of one win, two draws and three defeats in Group A1. They narrowly escaped demotion to League B in the Nations League after finishing a point above Austria who ended at the bottom of Group A1 and were demoted as a result.

Despite their poor form in Group A1 of this season’s UEFA Nations League, France are still one of the favourites to win the World Cup 2022 tournament. They are one of the top-three favourites to win the tournament alongside two-time winners Argentina and five-time winners Brazil. France are the defending champions after beating Croatia 4-2 in an all-European final at the end of the 2018 edition in Russia.

France and Denmark were drawn in Group A1 of the Nations League this season and they are also in the same group at the World Cup 2022 tournament. They are in the same group alongside Australia and Tunisia. All the four teams are in Group D.

In their two meetings in Group A1, France recorded two wins. Sevilla striker Kasper Dolberg is on loan from OGC in the French top flight and he was responsible for the two goals as Denmark came from behind to record a 2-1 away win over France. Dolberg also scored as Denmark beat France 2-0 at home on Sunday to complete the double over the world champions.
